Ice-T: “Overcoming the Impossible”
Friday, March 8, 8pm
Williamson Theater
Tickets: $40, 35

Ice-T is a husband, father, army veteran, actor, and the inventor of gangster rap. As an actor, he is perhaps best known as “Detective Finn” in NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Ice-T not only invented gangster rap, he has lived it. Ice-T is the original embodiment of LA Hip-Hop and a cultural icon. Through his music, his books, lecture tours of America’s prisons, high schools, libraries, and colleges (including Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford), Ice-T has become an influential spokesman for America’s youth, regardless of color. His advice veers toward the kind that any dad might give to their kids. In drawing upon his own personal experiences, he highlights the advantages college students already have. “Overcoming the Impossible” is dialogue that is uplifting, inspiring, witty, and authentic.

Ice was genuine and gracious. He spoke so highly of the military that we were ecstatic – I would STRONGLY encourage him to do more of this. There are soldiers all around the Army who need to hear one of their own – unlike so many other celebrities of his stature, he has walked the walk, talked the talk, and remembers how it feels to be a soldier.-SCHOFIELD BARRACKS US Army
